Second day of the final training camp!
Second day of the final training camp!
In stark contrast to the first day, where we traveled by bus through the snow,
The second day of the camp began with beautiful weather. (From the bus window)
The morning started with Mahler practice.
Starting today, members of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, who will be performing with us on stage, are also joining in the rehearsals.
The viola part, which is usually lonely because there are only a few members, became very powerful...!

We were also interviewed by the Iwate Nippo newspaper.
We interviewed each of the members from Iwate.
↓Interviewing conductor Mr. Yanagisawa
A whiteboard in the hall's lobby had a countdown of "46 hours until the Iwate performance."
This countdown and some casual doodling has become a tradition every year.
The illustration on the top right is of technical director Iijima, drawn by Kaizu from the trombone section.
↑ Clarinet player Suzuki and Iijima. We got a photo of the two of them because they are wearing similar colors of clothes.
There was also an announcement on the whiteboard about a concert by the TYO Horn Ensemble, featuring horn players Tajima and Itagaki, as well as former members Chiba and Mikami!

Parents of members from Iwate came to visit.
We were also given a gift of the famous sweet "Kamome no Tamago". Thank you very much!
=====
Former tuba player and alumnus Yuta Tomizawa (the eldest of the three Tomizawa brothers who were enrolled at TYO) also came to show his support.
A photo with Mr. Senda from the horn section. The new and old night concertmasters (= party masters) are all here.
Tomizawa Nagao brought us some drinks to cheer us up. Thank you!
=====
At lunchtime, I had a hearty, youthful menu.
I'm grateful for the warm soup provided by the caterer.
↓Here we see Yanagisawa and the other members chatting during the break.
=====
The teachers of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra give advice to the members in their free time. This is Masayuki Miyagawa, a violinist who previously came to teach a section practice.
↓Junichi Mori, the bassoonist, also gave advice to the woodwind members.
It was a truly valuable experience to receive direct instruction from musicians and have them play alongside me...!
=====
↓Here's a rehearsal scene for "Time is Tilt Now."
The members whose turn it is to perform this song will have a break and enjoy some sweets.
After the afternoon practice, it's time for an early dinner from 5:30pm.
=====
After dinner, the second pre-concert ensemble presentation was held before the evening practice.
The event will be hosted by trombone player Kaizu, who is in charge of the lobbying competition.

Evening practice starts at 18:30!
Practice is divided into wind instruments and string instruments.
These are wind instruments. We'll be checking the finer details, such as pitch.
During practice, conductor Yanagisawa asked us about the trombone part.
Yanagisawa-san: "There's always a part in Mahler where the trombone sounds different... I always try to point it out, but I always forget. Is there anywhere that you can think of?"
Trombone player: "Sorry. I made a mistake here last time!"
Yanagisawa: "But the notes are always different, so maybe the music score is wrong...?"
Trombone player: "Oh, I always make mistakes..."
There was a moment of exchange like this, which caused the other members of the group to laugh at him.
While such a relaxed exchange of music between wind instruments was taking place,
In a separate room, the string instruments received instruction from Masayuki Miyagawa, principal second violin of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Professor Miyagawa has come to TYO to give instruction on a number of occasions.
Thank you so much for not only participating in practice but also watching the section practice.

At 8:30pm, we finished practice on the second day of the camp!
We practiced intensively all day from morning until night, and it seems like we made a lot of progress in just one day...! Thank you for your hard work.
Tomorrow we finally have our rehearsal with our guests, Sayuri Yoshinaga and Non. Let's do our best, everyone!
