[The first joint training session was held in October]

[The first joint training session was held in October]

A joint practice session was held at the Fukushima Minpo Hall on Saturday, October 22nd.

Due to the effects of COVID-19, the start of the 8th practice session was delayed, so we will be increasing the number of practice opportunities from October onwards, with a total of two practice sessions scheduled for October.

Although it was the end of October, the weather was fine with the temperature at 21°C.

It's a little hot in the practice room.

Morning orientation,
After Mr. Okada from the secretariat conveyed the necessary information,
Each returning member gave a brief greeting.

First-year university student, Fujita Salem (trumpet)

Mayu Takano (violin), first-year graduate student

Practice begins at 10 o'clock.

In the morning we practiced the fifth movement of Mahler's Symphony No. 5.
However, "Mala 5" is one of the most difficult songs that TYO has worked on so far.
The performance was disjointed and we couldn't even get through, so practice was quite difficult...

There was a short break, after which conductor Yanagisawa gave another talk.

At last month's practice session, the sheet music was distributed at the last minute, so there was a lack of advance preparation and it was unavoidable.
"Let's practice hard for a month until the next practice session," he told the students at the October practice session. Considering how well they did this time, they would not be able to make it to the concert in March at this rate.

As a premise, it was discussed that it is necessary for each individual to make thorough advance preparations and to improve participation in practice, and that it would be necessary to consider how to respond.

However, in order to gradually increase what they could do, the practice continued with each member having frequent breaks in between playing to practice on their own.

I felt like the atmosphere was more relaxed after Mr. Yanagisawa spoke.
It seemed like the members' concentration improved and their performance got a little better.
The attitude of awareness is important too.

This is the Fukushima Minpo newspaper from September 17th, which we were not able to introduce in last month's practice session report.

We have been given the opportunity to publish the contents of our coverage of the kickoff of the 8th term of the Tohoku Youth Orchestra.

8th term captain Ayaka Kikuchi (violin),
Comments from members from Fukushima, Arai Ruo (double bass), Wagatsuma Benia (trumpet), and Sato Shiori (cello), are also included.

Some members of the Tohoku Youth Orchestra are attending music universities, and third-year flute player Nanami Noguchi had put up flyers announcing her own concerts at the practice venue.

In the afternoon we will practice the third movement, Scherzo.

There are many parts in the 3-beat movement that seem rushed compared to the tempo.
Mr. Yanagisawa also pointed this out on numerous occasions.

Then, in the latter half of the afternoon, we practiced a little bit of the first and second movements.

Practice ended at 4:30 p.m.

Many issues were identified during the October practice session.
To all members, let's re-energize ourselves and do our best in practice from the next time onwards...!
