Night practice on the first day of training camp
Night practice on the first day of training camp
During the summer camp, we asked one of the new 4th year students to introduce himself and say a few words before eating. The first person to do so was trumpet player Shogo Tomizawa, a first year university student. Tomizawa, who got a laugh with his comment, "My brother always takes care of me," is the youngest of three brothers.
Finally, I was able to take a photo of the three Tomizawa brothers. From the right, the eldest brother, Yuta, who plays the tuba, is a fourth-year university student, and the percussionist in the middle, Takumi, is a third-year university student. At first glance, the three don't look alike, but according to the eldest brother, "the parts are the same, but the arrangement is slightly different." This is an interesting example that shows the importance of subtle differences in the human face.
Speaking of dinner, the bowl on the left had fried food as the main dish and somen noodles, a typical training camp meal high in carbohydrates.
Akane Hatakeyama and Miyu Sato, a friendly duo of fourth-year university violinists, even drink their miso soup at the same time.
For the evening practice, we invited members of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, who were present for the first time at the summer camp this term, to perform a section practice.
Today we are joined by Masayuki Miyagawa, principal second violin of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
We received careful instruction in the string section's performance of Brahms' Symphony No. 2.
Meanwhile, the brass section practiced in the hotel's "multipurpose room" under the guidance of Toshio Yanagisawa. "We can't practice the fortissimo part," said Yanagisawa, laughing bitterly here.
It's multipurpose!
And this is the "Convention Hall"
This is a warning sign on the door of this hall.
This warning notice gives a glimpse into the hotel's impressive history, including the types of people who have stayed here and how they have used the hotel.
Here I would like to conclude this first day report from the accompanying teacher, who sincerely hopes that these four days will go smoothly and be fruitful days of practice.
