[Member Interview] Keita Sato (horn)

[Member Interview] Keita Sato (horn)

We will be sending you regular interviews with members of the orchestra until the concert. This time we have Keita Sato (horn)!

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Ramen.

Q: Where are you from?

A: Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture. I am currently living in Sendai, where my university is.

Q: How long have you been doing music?

A: I've been playing the horn since junior high school. I've been playing the trumpet for even longer. I've been doing a variety of things since I was in second grade.

Q: Have you ever felt glad that you were doing music?

A: The sense of accomplishment after the concert. I hate the tension before it starts (laughs). When I was in high school, I was so nervous that I couldn't even eat.

Q: How was it joining the Tohoku Youth Orchestra?

A: When I joined, rather than being concerned about the earthquake, I thought that all the horn players were so talented and it was fun to play together, but after actually finishing the performance, I began to think that it was not enough to just play for fun, but that I also wanted to value the message we were conveying.

Q: Has anything changed before and after 3/11?

A: I feel very grateful to be alive and to be able to play an instrument. I try not to waste my time.

Q: What are the highlights leading up to your concert in March?

A: I want you to pay attention to the horn parts. Everyone is really good. I want you to listen to the hot sound of the horn parts. It sounds really good. I'm also happy to be able to perform in Tohoku this time.
