This is the first update of the Tohoku Youth Orchestra news in a while.
Recently, a series of large earthquakes have occurred, mainly in Kumamoto Prefecture. We would like to express our deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the series of earthquakes, and our sympathies to all those affected by the disaster.
The Tohoku Youth Orchestra is a reconstruction support project that developed from the "Children's Music Revival Fund" (Japan Musical Instrument Association), which originated from the inspection and repair activities of school instruments damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake. Since ensuring safety is the top priority in the affected areas immediately after the disaster, we hope to be able to support children through musical instruments and music activities if there is a local need at the appropriate time.
On the 21st of last week, NHK International aired a 10-minute documentary on the English broadcast of the concert in Tokyo, and it was also uploaded to the website the day before yesterday. Please take a look at "Sakamoto's Inspiration" on the NHK WORLD program "News Room Tokyo."

Thanks to your support, the Tohoku Youth Orchestra is planning to continue its activities this year, and we are currently creating an activity plan for this year based on a survey of our 105 members. We will also be announcing the recruitment of new members in the near future, although we expect there will be a few more soon.
We appreciate your continued support for the Tohoku Youth Orchestra.
