REPORT

This is a report from the joint training session in October.

This is a report from the joint training session in October.

On Sunday, October 6th, we held a joint practice session at the Fukushima Minpo Hall in Fukushima City. The previous day in Tokyo it was over 30 degrees, so when I stepped onto the platform at Fukushima Station it was chilly, and I thought to myself, "Oh, so this is what 20 degrees feels like," and it felt cool but nostalgic, maybe because my body's thermostat had gone haywire from the intense heat of summer.

The top image is a flyer for recruiting choral members to perform Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at our regular concert in March of next year. Applications are being accepted until the end of this month for people from areas that have experienced major natural disasters since 3/11, regardless of experience. We have already received applications from the mothers of our members, and we are happy to see the formation of the TYO Moms' Chorus. This is a chance to suddenly take to the big stages of Suntory Hall, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, and Fukushima Prefectural Cultural Center. Detailed recruitment information can be found here .

Even if you don't meet the application criteria, you probably know at least one person who does. Please let us know.

Trombone player Yukiho Hashimoto, sitting on the far left in the photo above, has been accepted into a university in Tokyo through recommendation and has rejoined the group as of today. Congratulations!

As for practice, Toshio Yanagisawa gave us ensemble instruction in the Ninth Symphony for the first time since the summer camp.

However, it seems that there were a lot of school and other events on this day, so the number of participants was low.

This concludes our introduction of the participants from three perspectives.

The content was a thorough and careful review of the Ninth Symphony.

During the break, captain Tajima Shiori was interviewed for the "Voices of the Orchestra Members" segment of Shibuya Radio's "Shibuya's Tohoku Youth Orchestra."

In keeping with TYO style, we spoke to elementary school, junior high school, high school, and university students. We will be airing the program soon, so please look forward to it.

In addition to rehearsing the Ninth Symphony, we also practiced various performance pieces that cannot yet be made public, and then disbanded without any problems.

We are sure that the participation rate will increase significantly at the joint practice session in November. Everyone, please practice hard on your individual training and prepare for the next session.
