We interviewed Director Sakamoto!
We interviewed Director Sakamoto!
Today, we interviewed CEO and director Ryuichi Sakamoto at a location in Tokyo.
This is related to my graduation thesis that I am working on. In the thesis, I will use the theme of "Tohoku x Children x Music" and will use the activities of TYO as a starting point to delve deeper into the "creativity unique to Tohoku" that the director mentioned.
In the interview, we were able to hear the director's honest thoughts. Regarding the volunteer performance activities that began in the first season, he said, "Just the fact that that activity happened was enough to make starting Tohoku Youth worth it. I'm glad I started it." When I heard those words, I was overwhelmed with emotion. I shed a few tears. (laughs)
The director himself seems to have similar thoughts about the conflicts felt by the members of the group as disaster victims. I hope that the members who are involved in volunteer activities will do so with confidence and pride.
We also had the opportunity to hear about their plans for the next one and two years. Every time I hear about these plans, I just hope that TYO will continue on for a long time to come. TYO would not exist without your support. Thank you for your continued support.
The director himself commented that the interview was a good opportunity to "discuss the essential aspects and confirm my current thoughts." I feel very grateful. I'm glad I took on the challenge!
I was also able to meet Rikako Nagashima, a teacher from TYO Art who had been there for the previous meeting. I was surprised at her big belly and thought, "I never thought I'd meet her here!"
I hoped that both mother and child would be born healthy and happy, and at the same time, I strongly hoped that TYO would continue until the baby reached elementary and junior high school age.
