We are currently conducting additional crowdfunding to support volunteer performances in the disaster-stricken areas!

From today, February 10th (Saturday) to tomorrow, we will be holding our final joint practice session in preparation for next month's concert. At the practice venue in the Fukushima Minpo headquarters hall in Fukushima City, volunteer performer Yuta Tomizawa (a third-year university student from Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, who plays the tuba) was holding a donation box and calling on members to donate from the morning.
The day before, the following email was sent to orchestra members by the volunteer performers/crowdfunding staff.

Hello to all members of the Tohoku Youth Orchestra.
The second crowdfunding campaign began on February 3rd.
The goal of this crowdfunding campaign is to cover the increased travel expenses for the voluntary concerts to be held in February and March that were not covered in the first crowdfunding campaign.
In the previous crowdfunding campaign, some people said, "I can't support you because I don't have a credit card."
Therefore, at practice this Saturday and Sunday, we will set up a donation box and donate all money collected there to support volunteer performance activities through crowdfunding.
Normally, crowdfunding requires a minimum of 500 yen per person to support the project, but this time, everyone's donations will be combined together and counted as one person, so you can donate from as little as 10 yen.
Your support will be used for volunteer performance activities through crowdfunding.
Please support us with even just 10 yen.

Last month, we closed the crowdfunding campaign "We want to bring music to the disaster area - Tohoku Youth Orchestra Volunteer Performance" on the JAPAN GIVING website. Thanks to your support, we were able to raise 227,500 yen and successfully reach our goal. However, we made a happy mistake and, as a result of the increased awareness of volunteer performance among the orchestra members and the increase in participants, we were unable to cover the travel expenses for the two volunteer concerts scheduled for this month and next month. Therefore, we have decided to ask for additional support again. The page is as follows.

Volunteer activities were left to the members, mainly university students, as they were voluntary activities of the members, but perhaps because it was held so soon after the last time, there are only two weeks left, and even though we are accepting applications until the 24th, we are still less than 20% of our goal... Yu Miyagawa, a member of the secretariat, couldn't bear to see this and made a card to promote the announcement.

It would be better to put this card up.

There are two volunteer activities remaining this year.

・Saturday, February 17, 2018, 12:00~ Minamisanriku Sansan Shopping Street, Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture ・Saturday, March 3, 2018, Caritas Ishinomaki Base, Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture

We are currently raising funds to carry out these two volunteer activities.
A poster has also been prepared for an independent concert to be held in Minami Sanriku on the 17th of next week.

After the concert, they will be participating in a disaster prevention/mitigation workshop run by local university students to learn about earthquakes and tsunamis.

We would like to introduce another crowdfunding page that is currently accepting applications.

There will be no reward in return, and we ask for your donations only. Thank you for your understanding and support.
