[Member Interview] Yuta Tomizawa (Tuba)

Q: Where are you from?

A: Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: I like ramen.

Q: How long have you been doing music?

A: I started playing the trombone in the brass band when I was in the third grade of elementary school. Now I play the tuba.

Q: Is there anything that makes you feel glad that you're doing music?

A: I think it would be great to make more friends with the same hobbies.

Q: What is it like joining the Tohoku Youth Orchestra?

A: I think it's amazing to be able to make music with Ryuichi Sakamoto. Also, we have members ranging from elementary school students to university students, so it's fun to be able to see the elementary school students grow up and hang out with the junior high school students.

Q: Is there anything you feel has changed before and after 3/11?

A: I have learned to use lifelines more carefully. During the earthquake, I had to go get water, and we had to use candles because there was no electricity. I think we are in a very fortunate environment to have all the things we need in our daily lives.

Q: What are your aspirations for March?

A: Last year, we had to prepare in a hurry, but this year, new people have joined us and we are able to practice calmly. We have become stronger, and the elementary and junior high school students are working really hard.
