[Member Report] Volunteer Performance: Voice Fukushima Summer Festival
On Sunday, August 18th, a group of volunteer members performed at the "Voice Fukushima Summer Festival."
This time's member report will be brought to you by Ichikawa Mana, a 3rd year violinist!
This time, 12 members participated, some of whom were participating for the first time.
The event took place in Fukushima City's downtown plaza. Perhaps because everyone has been good, the weather was clear!
First, Fukushima Secretariat, run by Yutaka Watanabe,
Rehearsals were held at the Brilliant Culture Space "Ideal."
This is the final check before the performance. Rehearsals are held in a homely studio atmosphere.
Everyone is serious about the actual event.
Musicians living in Fukushima, please give Ideal a try!

After the rehearsal was completed, we moved to the venue and it was finally time to perform!
This time, Suzuki Minami served as the MC.
The first song is "Behind the Mask" composed by director Ryuichi Sakamoto!
This is a song that cannot be left out, it's one of my favorites!!
It started off cool with a distinctive techno pop rhythm.
This song was also performed at TYO's main concert during the third period.
The second song is "Summer Festival" by JITTERIN'JINN!
The performance was designed to allow the audience to imagine fireworks exploding over a row of cotton candy, goldfish scooping, and yakitori stalls.
It's often used at summer festivals on "Taiko no Tatsujin."
The song begins with a trumpet solo.
The soloist will be Wagatsuma Seone, an 8th generation member from Fukushima Prefecture.
I started college this year and now I have red hair...
It matches the colour of the sheet music cover!
The third song is "The Crown of Glory Shines on You" composed by Koseki Yuji, a composer from Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture!
This song is performed and sung at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Summer National High School Baseball Championship as the tournament song. The performance was accompanied by warm applause from the audience.
The fourth song is "Hoshikage no Yell", the theme song from the NHK morning drama series "Yell"!
This drama depicts the life of Koseki Yuji, and the song is likely one of the favorites of the people of Fukushima.
The last song is "Yae no Sakura Main Theme"!
This song was also composed by our Director Sakamoto, and is the opening theme for the NHK Taiga drama "Yae no Sakura."
The flute at the beginning of this song is really cool!
The person playing the flute is Sakamoto Saiun, who joined the company in the third term like me!
A serious look...

I think this program has been enjoyable for people of all ages.
Although it was a hot day and they had to protect their instruments from the sun while performing, it was a wonderful time in which they felt a sense of unity with the audience.
We also hope to visit your towns and help you learn more about TYO's activities.
Thank you for reading the report!
