[Remote Performance] Dai Fujikura: Longing from afar (Tohoku Youth Orchestra)

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the Tohoku Youth Orchestra has decided to cancel its concert for the second year in a row.

In a situation where members can't even get together, is there a way they can connect through music?

"Longing from afar," composed by Dai Fujikura, is a piece created for remote performance.

The title translates to "Longing from afar."

This was the first time that the Tohoku Youth Orchestra held a commemorative performance for its 6th term as a remote ensemble using ZOOM.

Members who have difficulty producing sounds on instruments at home perform using songs and everyday objects (cups, pens, tea whisks, etc.).

March 11th marks 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake.

The Tohoku Youth Orchestra continues to think about what can be done with the power of music.

We will continue to move forward.
