[Recruitment] We are looking for participants for the chorus of "Symphony No. 9" for the Tokyo and Fukushima performances in March 2020!

The Tohoku Youth Orchestra has been holding regular concerts every March since 2016.

The regular concert in March next year will mark the fifth milestone.

"I wonder if we can create a project that connects the areas affected by the major natural disasters that have occurred all over Japan since 3/11."

Director Ryuichi Sakamoto suggested that the Tohoku Youth Orchestra and people living in the disaster-stricken areas across the country perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.

If people who live on the same Japanese archipelago and who have suffered hardships due to nature could come together and sing and play songs of hope for the future, it might be a source of encouragement in some way.

Therefore, we are looking for choral participants for the Ninth Symphony from areas of Japan affected by the disasters since 3/11.

Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 65 (as of September 1, 2019) and be living in or currently living in one of the designated disaster areas listed below at the time of the disaster.

"2011 Great East Japan Earthquake": Fukushima Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture

"2016 Kumamoto Earthquake Disaster": Kumamoto Prefecture

"July 2017 Northern Kyushu Heavy Rain Disaster": Fukuoka Prefecture, Oita Prefecture

"July 2018 Western Japan Heavy Rain Disaster": Okayama Prefecture, Hiroshima Prefecture, Ehime Prefecture

Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to all those in Chiba and other areas affected by the recent typhoon, which has caused great damage.
