The Sanriku Disaster Prevention and Recovery Project 2019 aims to convey the image of the region as it works vigorously towards recovery, to prevent the memory of the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami from being forgotten, to show gratitude for the support for recovery from both within Japan and overseas, and to convey the memories and lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami as an affected prefecture, and to contribute to improving disaster prevention capabilities both at home and abroad. It also aims to create a new Sanriku by promoting the diverse charms of the Sanriku region both domestically and internationally and stimulating exchanges.

Director Ryuichi Sakamoto and the Tohoku Youth Orchestra String Quartet will be performing at the closing ceremony of the Sanriku Disaster Prevention and Reconstruction Project 2019!
