This is a report on the first volunteer concert in Iwate Prefecture.

This is a report on the volunteer concert that we held for the first time in Iwate Prefecture. Hello! I am Yuri Tanno, a first-year university student in the double bass section, and I will be writing this report. I participated in this volunteer concert as a chaperone. Thank you!

2019.2.3 Volunteer performance @Yaha Park

I'm sure there are many people out there wondering what Yaha Park is, so I'll introduce it to you. Yaha Park is located about a 3-minute walk from Yahaba Station in Iwate Prefecture, and its official name is Yahaba Town Community Center Yahaba Park. It is a building like a citizens' plaza that is used by a wide range of people, from the elderly to children. Inside the building, there is not only a cafe and magazine lounge, but also a library center, making it a very comfortable space to spend time.

The members who will be performing this time are Hikari Sato, Yota Taguchi, Rina Iwabuchi, Chiji Fujiwara, and Yuko Yamazaki. All of them participated as violinists.

Everybody rehearsed seriously.

For lunch, we had Yahaba Shiitake Panini at the cafe. The hot shiitake mushrooms were juicy and delicious. We also had other snacks such as obanyaki, which left all the members very satisfied.

Now, it was time for the main event. We performed "Hana wa Saku" as an encore at the beginning and end of the concert. Hikari's solos of Last Emperor and Yae no Sakura were impressive performances despite her being a solo performer.

We performed as part of an event called "Fukukoi Festa". After the concert, we had a bean-throwing party and everyone enjoyed it. There were many other events that took place that day, including a member who participated in a herbarium experience class! We had a lot of fun!

This was our first attempt at a volunteer performance in Iwate Prefecture. The Tohoku Youth Orchestra Concert 2019 will include a performance in Morioka. It was very moving to be able to go to Iwate Prefecture as a volunteer performance before the main performance. Thank you very much to everyone at Yaha Park for giving us this opportunity. Tickets for the Morioka performance are currently on sale. Please come along!
